Special Weather Statement Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, St. Joseph, and Whitley Counties.

AT 123 PM EST, NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A BAND OF MODERATE SNOW WITH SNOWFALL RATES OF ONE HALF TO ONE INCH PER HOUR, WINDS GREATER THAN 20 MPH, ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 9 MILES SOUTHWEST OF BREMEN TO NORTH WEBSTER, MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 20 MPH. VISIBILITY IN THIS SNOW BAND WILL FALL BELOW ONE HALF MILE AT TIMES WITH SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION UP TO AN INCH PER HOUR AND CREATING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON AREA ROADS. GUSTY WINDS WILL CAUSE SOME BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. TRAVELERS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS INCLUDING THE HIGHWAY 30 CORRIDOR. LOCATIONS IN THE PATH OF THESE BANDS OF MODERATE SNOW INCLUDE,  WARSAW,  WINONA LAKE, BOURBON, PIERCETON, MENTONE, SECHRIST LAKE, IRISH LAKE AND INWOOD. MOTORISTS SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN DRIVING. ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION. ROADWAYS CAN BECOME SLIPPERY QUICKLY, ESPECIALLY ON UNTREATED ROAD SURFACES.
