Flood Warning Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)


Indiana Target Area: Allen, Huntington and Wabash Counties.


The Flood Warning has been extended for the following rivers: Little River above Huntington affecting Allen...Huntington and Wabash Counties. Wabash River near Bluffton affecting Wells County. Eel River at North Manchester affecting Cass...Kosciusko...Miami...Wabash and Whitley Counties. Maumee River at Fort Wayne affecting Allen and Paulding Counties Saint Joseph River Ohio above Newville affecting Allen...De Kalb and Defiance Counties.


The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers: Tippecanoe River near Ora affecting Fulton...Kosciusko...Marshall...Pulaski and Starke Counties. Kankakee River at Davis affecting La Porte...Starke and St. Joseph Counties. Yellow River at Plymouth affecting Marshall, Starke and St. Joseph Counties. Saint Joseph River Ohio below Montpelier affecting Williams County. Saint Joseph River Ohio near St. Joe River Ft. Wayne affecting Allen County. Tiffin River(Ohio) near Stryker affecting Defiance...Fulton and Williams Counties. North Branch Elkhart River at Cosperville affecting Noble County. Elkhart River at Goshen affecting Elkhart and Noble Counties. Spy Run Creek at Spy Run affecting Allen County.


Recent snowmelt in addition to ongoing and forecast rainfall will lead to continued rises on area rivers through the week. The Flood Warning has been extended for The Little River above Huntington.

*From late tonight until further notice.

*At 5 PM Monday the stage was 13.1 feet and rising.

*Minor flooding is forecast.

*Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

*Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage very early Tuesday morning and crest near 15.6 feet around 6 PM Tuesday February 20. Additional rises are possible thereafter.

*At 16.0 feet...Moderate flooding is in progress. Secondary roads are blocked by flood waters. People in these areas should move property to higher ground and those nearest the river may have to evacuate their homes.


Instructions: Never drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local media for further statements and updated forecasts.
