Winter Weather Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Allen, Cass, Miami, Wabash, White, and Whitley Counties.

 

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO MIDNIGHT EST FRIDAY NIGHT.

*WHAT: Wet snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.

*WHEN: From noon Friday to midnight EST Friday night.

*IMPACTS: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. The combination of gusty winds and heavy, wet snow could bring down tree branches and lead to power outages.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: A very tight gradient in snow amounts is likely. Where the snow falls, snow rates in excess of 1 inch per hour are possible.

Indiana Target Area: De Kalb, Eastern St. Joseph, Elkhart, Fulton, Lagrange, Marshall, Noble, Northern Kosciusko, Northern La Porte, Pulaski, Southern Kosciusko, Southern La Porte, Starke, Steuben, and Western St. Joseph Counties.

 

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.

*WHAT: Heavy wet snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.

*WHEN: From Friday morning through Friday evening.

*IMPACTS: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds and heavy snow could bring down tree branches.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Rain is expected to change over to heavy snow over northern portions of the area, especially near the Michigan border. Rapid snow accumulations are likely.

Flood Warning Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, Pulaski, and Starke County.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Indiana; Tippecanoe River near Ora affecting Fulton IN, Pulaski, Marshall, Kosciusko and Starke Counties.

FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

*WHAT: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

*WHERE: Tippecanoe River near Ora.

*WHEN: From this afternoon until further notice.

*IMPACTS: At 12.5 feet, Flooding begins to affect residences near the river.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: At 12:45 PM EST Wednesday /11:45 AM CST Wednesday/ the stage was 12.0 feet.

*Recent Activity: The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 12:45 PM EST Wednesday /11:45 AM CST Wednesday/ was 12.0 feet.
Forecast: The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.3 feet early Sunday afternoon. Additional rises are possible thereafter. Flood stage is 12.0 feet. http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

 

Instructions: Never drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters. GUSTY WINDS TODAY.

A weather system will continue to bring rain and gusty winds to the area today. Thunderstorms can also be expected going into this afternoon. In most areas, southerly winds of 15 to 25 mph with wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph are likely. Thunderstorms may produce gusts in excess of 45 mph. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
