Winter Weather Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: De Kalb, Elkhart, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Noble, St. Joseph, Starke, and Steuben Counties.

 

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM EST /3 PM CST/ THIS AFTERNOON TO 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ SUNDAY.

*WHAT: Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of up to around one-tenth of an inch...mainly on roads and sidewalks.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.

*WHEN: From 4 PM EST /3 PM CST/ this afternoon to 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ Sunday.

*IMPACTS: Difficult travel conditions are possible due to icy roads. Secondary roads, bridges and overpasses, parking lots, and sidewalks are most susceptible.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Icy conditions are likely to develop by evening and persist for several hours before temperatures rise above freezing overnight.

 

Instructions: Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages.

BITTERLY COLD TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING.
West winds of 10 to 20 mph are expected tonight with lows ranging from 1 to 13 above zero. It will feel much colder because of the winds, with wind chill values of 5 to 15 below zero expected through Friday morning. Be sure to dress properly for the cold if heading outside tonight or Friday morning.

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ TO 10 PM EST /9 PM CST/ WEDNESDAY.

* WHAT...Southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.

* WHEN...From 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ to 10 PM EST /9 PM CST/ Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Areas of Fog this Afternoon and Evening.

Areas of fog have developed across the area this afternoon with visibility of one quarter to one half of a mile in some spots. Drivers should use their low beam headlights to be seen by others, and be alert for changing conditions. Slow down, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
