THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING UNTIL 745 PM EDT/645 PM CDT/.

*AT 550 PM CDT...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM KNOX TO 6 MILES NORTH OF WINAMAC TO 6 MILES SOUTH OF WINAMAC...AND MOVING EAST AT 40 MPH.

70 MPH WIND GUSTS AND HAIL AT .75IN.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED AN URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY UNTIL 830 PM CDT OR 930 EDT.

*AT 533 PM CDT OR 633 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVERSPREADING THE ADVISORY AREA. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES THAT BETWEEN 1 AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHWEST LA PORTE COUNTY INTO EXTREME WESTERN STARKE COUNTY. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF AROUND 1 INCH ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH 615 PM CDT OR 715 PM EDT. THESE HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL OVERSPREAD THE EASTERN PORTIONS OF PULASKI COUNTY THROUGH 700 PM EDT. RUNOFF FROM THIS HEAVY RAIN WILL RESULT IN PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS AND MINOR FLOODING.

Instructions: DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. *AT 523 PM CDT...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED 6 MILES NORTHWEST OF MEDARYVILLE...AND MOVING EAST AT 45 MPH.

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White, and Whitley Counties.

FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ THIS MORNING.

*SHOWERS WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE AREA THIS MORNING. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL UP TO AN INCH IS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE SHOWERS MOVE OUT OF THE AREA LATER TODAY. SOME LOCATIONS HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN SINCE SATURDAY MORNING AND THE POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL RAINFALL COULD LEAD TO FLOODING.
