THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ THIS EVENING.

* WIND...SOUTH SOUTHWEST 20 TO 25 MPH WITH A FEW GUSTS TO 35 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...RISING INTO THE MID 60S...WITH UPPER 60S POSSIBLE NORTHWEST INDIANA.

* HUMIDITY...22 TO 25 PERCENT.

* IMPACTS...CONTROL OF GRASS AND BRUSH FIRES COULD BE LOST

BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK FOR GRASS...BRUSH AND FIELD FIRES TO SPREAD OUT OF CONTROL THIS AFTERNOON. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO CLIMB INTO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 60S THIS AFTERNOON WHILE RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES DROP INTO THE 25 TO 30 PERCENT RANGE. IN ADDITION...SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL STRENGTHEN TO 20 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 30 TO 35 MPH THIS AFTERNOON. THESE WEATHER FACTORS COMBINED WITH VERY DRY FUEL MOISTURE...SUCH AS GRASSES AND CROPS...COULD LEAD TO SMALL FIRES BECOMING OUT OF CONTROL QUICKLY. A LINE OF DEVELOPING STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT EAST CENTRAL STARKE, NORTH CENTRAL FULTON, MARSHALL AND WEST CENTRAL KOSCIUSKO COUNTIES.

AT 552 PM EDT /452 PM CDT/ A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WAS DEVELOPING ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM KNOX TO CULVER TO NEAR ROCHESTER...AND MOVING NORTHEAST AT 45 MPH. WINDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH AND HALF INCH HAIL ARE POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORMS.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE: PLYMOUTH, ROCHESTER, KNOX, BOURBON, ARGOS, CULVER, MENTONE, WALNUT, TIPPECANOE, OAK GROVE, ETNA GREEN, BURKET, OLD TIP TOWN, HIBBARD, MAXINKUCKEE, TIOSA, BURR OAK, TWIN LAKES, TALMA AND RUTLAND.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR NORTHERN FULTON COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL INDIANA, SOUTHERN MARSHALL COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL INDIANA, AND SOUTHWESTERN KOSCIUSKO COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL INDIANA, UNTIL 800 PM EDT.

AT 656 PM EDT SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM PLYMOUTH TO NEAR ARGOS TO 9 MILES SOUTH OF CULVER MOVING EAST AT 30 MPH.
