The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Pulaski County in northwestern Indiana, Western Fulton County, Starke County, Southwestern Marshall County, and Southwestern La Porte County. Until 315 PM EDT/215 PM CDT/.

*At 215 PM EDT/115 PM CDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located over Dunns Bridge, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

*Locations impacted include: Plymouth, Knox, Winamac, North Judson, Culver, Francesville, Medaryville, Pulaski, Oak Grove, Ripley, Kewanna, Monterey, Leiters Ford, Lomax, Beardstown, Ober, English Lake, Denham, Hibbard and Clarks.

Wednesday Afternoon Heat Indices Around 100 Degrees.
The combination of afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s with high humidity will lead to peak heat indices in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees Wednesday afternoon.

 

Instructions: Stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. If you must be outdoors, take frequent breaks and drink plenty of fluids.

*WHAT: Peak afternoon heat index values 100 to 105 degrees expected.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.

*WHEN: From noon EDT /11 AM CDT/ to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Wednesday.

*IMPACTS: Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

 

Instructions: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT/8 PM EDT/ THIS EVENING.

*WHAT: Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall and saturated grounds continues to be possible.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio, including the following areas, In southwest Michigan, Berrien, Branch, Cass MI, Hillsdale, and St. Joseph MI. In northwest Ohio, Allen OH, Defiance, Fulton OH, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Williams.

*WHEN: Until 7 PM CDT/8 PM EDT/ this evening.

*IMPACTS: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: A large area over northern Indiana, southern Lower Michigan, and northwest Ohio has observed 24-hour total rainfall above 2 inches, with spots in south-central Michigan and northeast Indiana receiving between 6 and 10 inches of rainfall.
