Indiana Target Area: Allen, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Huntington, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, White, and Whitley Counties.

ACCUMULATING SNOW EXPECTED IN THE AREA TONIGHT AND SUNDAY, SNOW IS EXPECTED TO OVERSPREAD THE AREA FROM WEST TO EAST THIS EVENING, AND THEN CONTINUE AT TIMES LATE TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. BY SUNDAY EVENING, NEW SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM AN INCH OR LESS OVER SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN, TO 3 TO 4 INCHES ALONG THE ROUTE 24 CORRIDOR, INCLUDING MONTICELLO, FORT WAYNE, AND DEFIANCE. AREAS FARTHER SOUTHEAST INCLUDING MARION, PORTLAND, VAN WERT, AND LIMA ARE EXPECTED TO RECEIVE HEAVIER ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 6 INCHES. THE SNOW WILL LIKELY CAUSE SLICK ROADS ACROSS THE AREA OVERNIGHT AND INTO SUNDAY, ESPECIALLY ACROSS NORTHERN INDIANA AND NORTHWEST OHIO.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT EST /11 PM CST/ TONIGHT TO 10 AM EST /9 AM CST/ MONDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

* DANGEROUS WIND CHILL VALUES BETWEEN 10 BELOW ZERO AND 20 BELOW ZERO ARE EXPECTED LATE TONIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING.

IMPACTS...

* PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THIS EXTREME COLD CAN LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA AND FROST BITE IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS.

Instructions: A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 7 PM EST SATURDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

* TIMING...SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA AFTER MIDNIGHT. PERIODS OF MODERATE SNOW ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING BEFORE DIMINISHING SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

* ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 5 INCHES WITH LOCALLY ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS SOUTH OF THE HIGHWAY 24 CORRIDOR.

* IMPACTS...SNOW WILL RESULT IN REDUCED VISIBILITY AND WILL MAKE FOR SLICK AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA.

AT 123 PM EST, NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A BAND OF MODERATE SNOW WITH SNOWFALL RATES OF ONE HALF TO ONE INCH PER HOUR, WINDS GREATER THAN 20 MPH, ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 9 MILES SOUTHWEST OF BREMEN TO NORTH WEBSTER, MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 20 MPH. VISIBILITY IN THIS SNOW BAND WILL FALL BELOW ONE HALF MILE AT TIMES WITH SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION UP TO AN INCH PER HOUR AND CREATING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON AREA ROADS. GUSTY WINDS WILL CAUSE SOME BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. TRAVELERS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS INCLUDING THE HIGHWAY 30 CORRIDOR. LOCATIONS IN THE PATH OF THESE BANDS OF MODERATE SNOW INCLUDE,  WARSAW,  WINONA LAKE, BOURBON, PIERCETON, MENTONE, SECHRIST LAKE, IRISH LAKE AND INWOOD. MOTORISTS SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN DRIVING. ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION. ROADWAYS CAN BECOME SLIPPERY QUICKLY, ESPECIALLY ON UNTREATED ROAD SURFACES.

AT 302 PM EST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED BANDS OF MODERATE SNOW WITH SNOWFALL RATES OF ONE HALF TO ONE INCH PER HOUR...WINDS GREATER THAN 30 MPH...ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM BRIDGMAN TO WAKARUSA TO 7 MILES EAST OF SYRACUSE...MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 20 MPH. VISIBILITY IN THIS SNOW BAND WILL FALL BELOW ONE QUARTER MILE AT TIMES WITH SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION UP TO AN INCH PER HOUR...CREATING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON AREA ROADS. GUSTY WINDS WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. TRAVELERS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.  LOCATIONS IN THE PATH OF THESE BANDS OF MODERATE SNOW INCLUDE SYRACUSE, SOUTH BEND, GULIVOIRE PARK, NAPPANEE, WAKARUSA, MILFORD, AND NORTH WEBSTER. CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE RAPIDLY. STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL CAUSE WIDESPREAD BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW, WITH VISIBILITY REDUCED TO NEAR ZERO AT TIMES. TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
